Event: Coffee Morning
The coffee morning is a unique way to present the learning and understanding of Inquiry Module topics of the students. The event provides a great opportunity for the parents to get an insight into the learning process of their children.
Edify Kanakapura organised a coffee morning for the parents of Grade 2 A, B and C on Saturday 14/12/2019. Academic Administrator Pre Primary, Ms. Rupa Sur, welcomed the gathering and gave an overview of 3C to the parents. She also spoke about the importance of having coffee mornings in school. The students showcased their learning under the six stages of Inquiry Module through displays as well as dynamic presentations.
The topics of the presentation were “Water” and “Plants’ and it included various activities like quiz, mind map on sources of water, how to save water, forms of water, water cycle, essential needs of human beings and germination of seeds. The presentation highlighted the importance of water and plants in our lives and how we need to save water and plants to secure our future. Students performed a poem from the English reader book “Daisy The Snail” and they also presented a skit from the school cinema “The Grumpy Tree”. They also performed a song and dance based on “Save Trees and Water” in Kannada and Hindi. Special Assembly was also integrated as part of the coffee morning followed by a fashion show where the students showcased awareness on how to save water and plants.
The presentation of the inquiry module was done using various types of props as a tool. Students spoke about the topic and activity they have done during the inquiry cycle. They took the initiative to motivate and guide people to save our Mother Earth by saving plants and water and by respecting everyone.
The presentation left the parents enthralled. They were awestruck on seeing their little one’s knowledge of the concept covered in the topic. The parents were requested to provide feedback in the form of rubrics. Overall, the feedback received for the entire program was excellent.
