India is a land of diverse culture and cuisine, of varied beliefs and languages. Indians symbolize the values of adaptability, appreciation and acceptance of this diversity and celebrates it. CBSE proposed as a part of celebration of ‘Ek Bharat Sreshth Bharat’ cultural days, schools to conduct a Culinary Festival on 9th February 2019. Edify School, Kanakapura Road, Bengaluru, participated in the event vehemently.
Grades 6, 7 and 8 participated in the event. Different states were allotted to different classes. Grade 6A was allocated Karnataka, 6B represented Andhra Pradesh, Grade 7A Tamil Nadu, 7B Kerala and grade 8A displayed the culture and cuisine of Madhya Pradesh. Classes were divided in 4 groups, each consisting of 5-8 students. Ten traditional food items state wise were discussed in the class and students chose one of them for their display per the state allotted. . Along with the traditional dishes, they also displayed handwritten alphabets chart of the particular state language. There was also a beautiful display of charts showing architecture and sculptures of the particular states.
The participation of the students was praiseworthy. They unveiled relentless zeal and excitement in the event.
Senior students were encouraged to make posters on the sentences read in the assembly and displayed within the school premises. Students were encouraged to share the sentences with their families at home.
All the activities to celebrate the ‘Linguistic Integration’ were conducted with enthusiastic participation of the teachers and students.
