“Without mathematics, there’s nothing you can do. Everything around you is mathematics. Everything around you is numbers.” Shakuntala Devi.
We at Edify celebrate National Mathematics Day on 22nd December every year. This year we planned to celebrate in a little different way and decided to held a Mathematics competition among students grade-wise. We name the competition as “Ganith Challenge”. The competition was considered a house competition which made children more competitive as it was the last house event of the year.
Each and every student of each grade participated in the Ganith Challenge and showed their utmost talent in mathematics.
From grade 6 to 10 it was a written test whereas from grade 1 to 5 it was in the form of activity in mathematics. For some grade, it was a memory game, while for someone it was basic calculations. We recorded students timing of solving the correct answers. Overall the ‘Ganith challenge’ was a successful event as it boosted students’ calculation capacity, memory, and quicker way to solve sums.
