Aashirvachanam, officially bidding farewell to the outgoing 10th graders of Edify School, took place on the 8th of February, 2020, under a grandly decorated shamiana in the Tennis Court.
The event began with the Guest of Honour, Ms.Uma Devi, Principal Green Bell High School, being escorted by our Principal, Ms.Pamela Ghosh, to the venue. They were followed by the smartly dressed young graduates, entering the venue, while their parents and teachers stood on both sides of the aisle, applauding. With the lighting of the lamp and the invocation song, the function began formally.
It was a heart-touching event as a few children of the 9th grade performed for their seniors for the last time. Some of the outgoing children also showcased their talents for the last time. The Head Boy, Master Suhit Hegde, and the Head Girl, Ms. Namita Achhyuthan, representing their class, mesmerised the audience with their heart-rending speeches, expressing gratitude towards their teachers and alma mater, and recollecting their fun-filled years in the school. Speeches by the Guest of Honour and Principal ma’am were motivational and inspiring, asking the outgoing batch to seek for knowledge, happiness and peace rather than the materialistic aspect of life.
All eyes were glued to the LED screen when all the teachers handling Grade 10, and the outgoing students themselves had a lot to say about each other and the school in general in a prior recorded program. The program ended with the handing over of the light of knowledge by our Principal ma’am to all the students. The parents and teachers blessed the children wishing them all the best for the future by showering flowers on them, while in the background the song, “Showers of Blessing”, kept on resounding.
The final touch of the event was a grand dinner, hosted by the management of the school, for all present in that day’s program.
