A field trip is a visit to an area outside of the normal classroom where children
can try new things, have different experiences, and learn valuable life lessons.
On November 16, 2022, Grade 4 of Edify School went on a field trip as a part of the
inquiry module of IM4. The central idea of the module is ‘ Exploration of energy in different
forms and ways. We visited the Dairy Day ice cream factory during this field trip.
Children went inside and check out the three different rooms namely the hot room, the cold
room, and the normal room. The normal also called the processing room, where segregation of
nuts and other flavors was taking place. The hot room was kept heated enough to keep
the chocolate melting. Children were allowed to see the different machinery from a balcony
above without entering the area, where different kinds of packaging were taking place.
In the end, we were allowed to the cold storage which was kept at -125 degrees Celsius.
We couldn’t even spend 5 minutes inside that place. After this, each one of us was served
a scoop of their yummy product which the children enjoyed the most.
The visit was wonderful and full of knowledge. Children had the opportunity to check out
all the different kinds of energy and how one energy converts to other to keep the work going.
Overall it was an enjoyable and fruitful experience for all of us.
