“It is important how we view the youth of our nation. To simply consider them as new age voters will be a big mistake. They are the new age power”.
Narendra Modi
The young and confident ministers of Edify School conducted a Youth Parliament session on the online platform to commemorate the day our country proudly upheld its Constitution i.e. 26th November 1950.
The importance of conducting youth parliament is to develop democratic ethos in the younger generation.
Our dynamic students participated by playing different roles of Parliament House which exposed them to a deeper insight into the working of the political powers in the country.
The youth parliament initiated with the oath taking which the officials take before assuming their duties. The oath of office is an oath of affirmation a person takes before assuming the duties of an office, usually a position in government.
This was followed by question hour wherein the members of parliament raised questions on different aspects of administrative activities like questions on education reservations, tackling COVID-19 situations, defense agreements signed with foreign countries and defense products made by government under the ‘make in India’ program.
Issues were also raised on challenges faced in the financial sector, ensuring quality and expertise of doctors and engineers that graduate this year and import rates on crude oil .
This was followed by proposing and passing of a bill on the accreditation procedures for Educational Institutions Act 2020 by both the houses of parliament.
The youth parliament was adjourned for the next day session.
The main objective of conducting such a session is to make the students familiar with the whole process and proceedings of the parliament, to get a deeper insight, to make students aware of various problems facing our society and to develop leadership qualities.
