This is to inform you that Sky Gazing Camp was conducted by GENEX SPACE (Resource Person – Mr. Garvit, Ms. Anjana and Ms. Ashwathi) on 3rd Jan. 2023 from 4 PM to 8 PM for students of Grade 7 to 9.
An introduction was given by the resource person from GENEX SPACE
Explained about 14 different Human species which were in the Universe earlier, about the galaxy, planets, black holes, satellites, the universe, atmosphere, Moons, invention of the telescope and rockets. There were Q&A sessions too. All the children participated with enthusiasm.
After a short break (with refreshments), gathered on the ground to view the sky in deep.
Two telescopes were set to view the Moon, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn.
Observation:
The Moon: we were able to see it in very near and brighter
The Mars: it looks like a small red ball (like a 40 wats bulb)
Jupiter: The largest planet Jupiter has seen with brown color shaded and its 4 moons out of 83. We were informed that due to the distance, the other moons were not visible.
Saturn: The second largest planet Saturn was also seen along with the ring.
Apart from these planets, there were plenty of beautiful stars which were very interesting by viewing through telescopes.
An exciting evening enjoyed by all we Edifyers and also the parents too, particularly the night sky gazing period by exchanging knowledge freshened our minds. All children expressed their happiness about the event and in the future need much more like events, to enhance their knowledge and hands-on experience.
